CORPUS CHRISTI #1 goes into 3rd printing late April, 2012.

The first issue of CORPUS CHRISTI will be going into a 3rd printing at the same time as the release of issue #3, late April, 2012.  The Collector's Planet "bike" exclusive cover that was limited to 50 copies has been highly demanded by new readers.  This new version was meant to respond to that request, and at the same time compliment the "red sky" variant cover of issue #2 that so far we've been told was the most popular cover of that issue.

The "blue sky" set will also be made available online to those who are unable to attend the con in advance by pre-order. More information will be available this March as we get closer to the pressing.

JANUARY NEWSLETTER

For starters, 2023 Comics would like to thank all the readers of CORPUS CHRISTI for one, buying the first book, and two those of you who waited around for this second issue to finally get here.  Small press can be a hard business to run and we just had a crash course through the last three months!  First we underestimated demand (we thought we were going to have to GIVE away copies of the book and that it would never sell).  Then we ran into issues getting more copies printed on more than one occasion (Hurricane Irene and other weather issues killing the power off and on in Jersey).  Plus, “small press” means nobody is making a living off this yet, so we still have our regular day jobs to go to.  2023C is a small, SMALL little army, and these problems helped to put issue 2 behind schedule just over a month.  It also threw us a learning curve in business that unfortunately raised the price of the books by 50 cents.  We’re working on that still and hope to get the price back down to $3.00 for a black and white comic.  Shipping costs are killing us and we’re looking for answers to these problems.  So, enough with the excuses, we apologize that you had to wade through these problems with us in the beginning; and we greatly appreciate your patronage of our first title from 2023 Comics.

Issue 1 of CORPUS CHRISTI was a great and very surprising success for us!  The first issue sold over 300 copies alone in the city of Corpus Christi in it’s first six weeks, with even more sold online!  It’s something we never thought we would achieve, and we’re incredibly grateful for the support!  We’re looking to expand the book to San Antonio and Austin in the next month, and Dallas by May around the time that we attend the Dallas Comic Con!  We also had a lot of great support from the local vendors in the city:  David De La Cruz with Aaron Sauceda at Collector’s Planet; Jesse and Seida Mendoza at Comics Plus; Dean Fritsch with Gilbert Jacinto at Texas Toyz; and the owners and managers of Disc Go Round.  Robert Perez, Jr. of the South Texas Underground Film Society was also a big help in getting the book into the Realms Con 2011 convention in Corpus Christi in October.  Even the band Art of Dying got a copy of the book when they stopped in the city during their tour!

After Realms Con, CORPUS CHRISTI artist Trent Westbrook was invited to be a guest artist for an in-store signing as part of Collector’s Planet’s 5 year anniversary.  It was a great time, he got to meet many of the book’s readers, created some sketch covers for give aways at the event, and got to share a table with none other than Joshua Dysart (BPRD, UNKNOWN SOLDIER)!
Now that that is all over with, maybe we can start getting our books out on time, huh?!  If you still like this title after this issue, keep bugging us, guys!  We promise to try and do a better job.  CORPUS CHRISTI should remain a quarterly title.

2023 Comics will be announcing a new title by the end of Spring!

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!
